I do like what they did, of course, but it's primarily musical; I think the lyrics are great for the time period, but I don't think one could put them up there with the all time greats...a bit too much focus on the "imagery snipets" angle or straight up 60s angst/love/etc...good for sure, but limited.

You are correct , but I was "yanking your chain" a little ( from a fellow Cream fan ). Another lyrics one guy, music another would be any of the Robert Fripp/lyricists combos, over the years . Anything you could say about "imagery snippets" goes double for Pete Sinfield , they lyracist for the first 4 King Crimson albums !

Oh yeah, fig'd you were doing that...and yep, the "imagery snipets" term we just coined (I think we did?) is, at least for me, a perfect term to describe what some do in the lyrics dept, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't (duh, I guess). I'd put our own RHunter near the top for the style when we think of CCSun, etc. Of course, he can do so much more.
